This is a post about my ideas for minecraft mods that i want to make
These mods will exist for versions 1.21.1+.
The mods will all be compatible with each other and with Oh the Biomes We've Gone, with Farmer's delight, with Fabric Seasons, and with Beautify. The ways this compatibility fits into the mods will be discussed in each mod's own section.
New mushrooms: Chantarelles, shiitake, truffles, oyster mushrooms, chicken of the woods, psylocybin mushroom, enoki.
New blocks: Rotting logs, mushroom starter
New foods: Golden truffle, enchanted golden truffle
The golden truffle gives more saturation and hunger satiation than a golden carrot, and is made by surrounding a truffle with 8 gold. Enchanted golden truffle, gives better healing and health buffs than a golden apple, made by surrounding a truffle with 4 gold blocks.
Fully grown mushrooms drop one mushroom and a couple spores. Some mushrooms require special growing conditions. Truffles can only be found by brushing through the root blocks of some trees. Pigs and dogs can be trained to search for truffles.
Mushroom farming: Instead of growing in darkness, mushrooms will now have to be farmed on rotting logs which deplete after a while, or they can be grown faster and for longer on a mushroom growing kit, which when depleted can be refilled with nutrients by using bonemeal, rotten flesh and a stick. From the beginning it is crafted using dirt, rotten flesh, bonemeal, and stick, and is infused with spores to make it grow a certain species of mushroom.
Mushrooms will have several growth stages when farmed. At growth stage 3 is when most mushrooms will drop most fruit and some spores. at growth stage 4 they start randomly dropping spores, and at growth stage 5 they drop one mushroom and no spores. Each ingame day they grow by one stage.
Truffle spores have to be places on a tree sappling and it will grow with root blocks bellow the ground that can be brushed to reveal truffles. They cannot be grown the same as other mushrooms. Brushing the roots of trees with truffles will give both spores and truffles.
A mushroom boss spawns in the world in an underground dungeon that can be found by training a dog or pig to find golden truffles, which will lead to the boss. The boss is hard to defeat and spawns little mushroomlets that attack you, but when defeated will drop golden truffle spores, which can be used to farm golden truffles.
Psylocybin and red mushrooms can be made into hallucinogenic potions that give you momentary spider vision and nausea. These can also be brewed into potions that can be thrown.
Each new mushroom will have a huge variant that can be grown by the player and used as decoration or building blocks.
There will be an option that can be turned on or off in every world to make mushrooms grow based on random ticks, if users prefer to have it so.
Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds five new mushrooms; Puffballs, wood blewit, green mushrooms, weeping milkcap, and shelf fungi. These will all be able to be grown using the same methods as other mushrooms. They can all be grown on logs and mushroom starter, except for shelf fungus, which only grows on logs. This mod also adds lush soil, which can be used to craft mushroom starter. The new mushrooms will be used in many recipes, discussed later.
Farmer's delight adds a new type of soil that makes crops grow faster, this soil can also be crafted into mushroom starter to make mushrooms grow faster. Instead of advancing a stage every 20 minutes (one ingame day), they now grow a stage every 10 minutes. Other than that it adds a lot of foods that can be used together with Jae's Fungiculture to make recipes, which will be discussed later.
Fabric Seasons doesn't interact with this mod.
Beautify doesn't interact with this mod.
New mobs: Tilapia, carp, koi fish, catfish, sturgeon, golden sturgeon, lobster, shrimp
New crops: Rice, mussels
New mechanics: Automatic frog breeding
The mobs, including vanilla fish, are kept in any type of water, they breed by being fed things in their diet or by being fed specially made fish food. Tilapia, carp, and koi fish will breed automatically, but slowly, if they are in water containing rice crops. Rice will also grow faster by the presence of tilapia, carp, or koi fish in the water.
All of the new mobs, except the golden sturgeon, can be caught using a fishing rod.
Fish feed is crafted using one seaweed and one shrimp/lobster/mussel. This will give 4 fish feed, which is used to breed fish.
Sturgeon when fully grown and killed will drop caviar in addition to sturgeon meat. You can craft a golden sturgeon by surrounding a bucket of sturgeon with 4 gold blocks. You need two of these for them to be able to breed. To breed them you need to give them golden sturgeon feed, which is crafted with a mussel, a lobster, a shrimp, a tilapia, a carp or koi fish, and one seaweed. When killed a fully grown golden sturgeon will drop 8 golden caviar. This food is as good as golden carrots.
Tilapia diet: Seaweed, sea grass, rice, leaves.
Carp/koi fish diet: Mussels, lobster, shrimp, seaweed, sea grass.
Catfish diet: Mussels, lobster, shrimp, other fish.
Sturgeon diet: Mussels, lobster, shrimp, other fish.
Golden sturgeon diet: Golden sturgeon feed.
Lobster diet: Mussels lobster, shrimp, fish, seaweed, sea grass.
Shrimp diet: Shrimp, seaweed, sea grass.
Rice can be grown in shallow water, 1 block tall, and it will grow slowly until it grows out of the water, at which point you can harvest it with a hoe. To obtain rice from the beginning you need to find wild rice growing in shallow pools.
Although mussels are not crops, they act as static blocks rather than moving mobs. For mussels to grow there need to be other mobs around, as they are filter feeders. They attach themselves to blocks and grow in colonies that spread spores further, the amount of mussels in an area is dependent on the amount of mobs in the water.
If frogs exist in a pond ecosystem (containing aquatic plants and aquatic animals, at least two of each category) they will automatically breed. You can then kill adult frogs to gain frog meat, that can be used in various recipes.
Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds new aquatic plants, which will count towards the aquatic plant count for frogs. It also adds the Man O War which will count towards the aquatic animals counter for frog and mussel breeding.
Farmer's deligt adds rice to the game, which clashes with Jae's Aquaculture. To solve this the compatibility will remove Jae's Aquaculture rice and leave in the farmer's delight rice in the game. This rice will have the feature of growing faster if tilapia, carp, or koi fish are present in the water.
Fabric Seasons doesn't interact with this mod.
Beautify does not interact with this mod.
New mobs: Ducks
New crops: Tomato, onion, soy, corn, grapes
New mechanics: Mob happiness, fertilizer
For husbandry mobs to provide secondary products they need to be provided with special conditions that make them happy, these products and conditions are:
Pigs: fertilizer, they need mud to roll around in or a shallow water pool nearby
Chickens: eggs, they need seeds laying around on the ground
Ducks: eggs, they need a pond with either aquatic mobs or seaweed / sea grass in it
Cows: milk, they need a pasture with various types of flowers and grass
Goats: milk and wool, they need a pasture with various types of flowers and grass
Llamas: milk and wool, they need their fur combed
Horses: milk, they need a pasture with various types of flowers and grass
Sheep: milk and wool, they need their fur combed
Camels: milk, they need to be in a desert biome
Donkeys: milk, they need need other donkeys around
For goats, llamas and sheep they will provide one wool if not happy, but when happy will provide between 2 and 3 wool per cut. Ducks, goats, llamas, horses, and camels will now provide meat when killed. Goat and sheep meat are both called mutton, while duck and chicken meat are both called poultry. Donkeys and horses both drop horse meat while camels drop kabasa and llamas drop llama meat.
Rabbits do not give any secondary products when alive, but they do breed automatically when happy. To be happy they need to be part of a herd of rabbits (at least 8) and need a pasture with grass and several types of flowers.
Ducks can be bred by the player by giving them seeds, rice, or shrimp (if Jae's Aquaculture is present).
The new crops can be found in the wild. Tomatoes, corn, and grapes have to be converted into seeds while onions and soy beans can just be planted in the ground.
Grapes and tomatoes have to be grown on fences to give them support. They can grow on fences up to 3 blocks tall, but have to first be planted on a fence block on dirt and will slowly climb up the fence. Corn, soy beans, and onions just grow in the ground. Corn grows to be two blocks tall hence requires two blocks of air above the farmland. Corn, soybeans, grapes, and tomatoes can be harvested indefinitely once planted and fully matured while onion is harvested once like vanilla minecraft crops.
Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds many new types of wood, thus fences, which have to be compatible with plants that grow on fences. The new crops will also spawn in the different biomes that Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds. As for camels they will be able to give milk in some of the warmer biomes from this mod. Ducks will also spawn in many of the new biomes. Additionally this mod adds many new types of flowers and grass. These will count towards the grass and flower count for the mobs that require it for their secondary drops.
Farmer's delight adds a new type of soil, that being rich soil. This will be able to be crafted using dirt and fertilizer if Jae's Agriculture and Husbandry is present. Rich soil will also interact with all the new crops added by Jae's Agriculture and Husbandry. The crops that overlap between these mods will be removed from Jae's Agriculture and Husbandry and replaced with the ones from Farmer's delight. In the case of tomatoes they will also be able to grow on fences, which isn't a feature in Farmer's delight. Additionally, Farmer's delight adds rope, on which tomatoes can be grown. Grapes will also be able to be grown on rope to give them support along with fences.
Fabric Seasons will effect all of the crops from Jae's Agriculture and Husbandry. The exact percentages will be decided later.
Beautify does not interact with this mod.
New forageables: Blueberries, blackberries, garlic, strawberries, currant, rhubarb, nuts.
New blocks: Bird nests
New mechanics: Tree sap, burning sticks, basket
Birds nest spawn on trees or on the ground in certain biomes and vary in look depending on the biome, but they all just drop eggs and sticks. In jungle biomes, nests spawn in little indents under the ground, to represent kiwi bird nests.
The different forageable foods, except nuts, can be farmed by the player. Blueberries, blackberries, currant, and strawberries work just like vanilla sweetberries in the way they are planted and harvested, while garlic and rhubarb work like vanilla crops that are planted on farmland. Nuts are found dropping from dark oak trees every now and then.
To obtain sap from trees you put a tapper on the log and every five minutes you can harvest the sap of the tree with a glass bottle. Tappers are crafted by making a boat crafting shape out of cobblestone. Tree sap is divided into two categories; sweet sap, which is edible and used in food recipes, and sour sap, which is also edible but gives debuffs and is not used in food recipes. Vanilla trees that give sweet sap are birch and dark oak. Vanilla trees that give sour sap are oak, spruce, mangrove, acacia, cherry, jungle, warped, and crimson.
Burning sticks is an item made by applying any type of sap to a bundle of sticks, which is made in a crafting table with nine sticks. This item will the produce smoke and can be right clicked on a beehive to disable bee aggressivness and allow you to collect the honey or beeswax without having to place a campfire underneath.
The basket is an item that can be crafted using five string, in a boat pattern, in a crafting table. When held in the offhand all forageable items such as berries, crops, mushrooms, flowers, etc will be put into the basket. They can be in there regardless of how many they are, but it can contain max three stacks of mixed items.
Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds blueberries, these will be replaced by the blueberries in Jae's Foraging. Additionally the new trees that are added by this mod will be able to be tapped for sap. These will also give either sweet sap or sour sap. The trees that give sweet sap are: Blue enchanted, Florus, Green enchanted, Ironwood, all types of Maple, Skyris, and all new types of Birch. The trees that give sour sap are: Aspen, Baobab, Cika, Cypress, Ebony, Fir, Holly, Jacaranda, Mahogany, Palm, Rainbow eucalyptus, Redwood, new types of Sakura/Cherry, Spirit, Willow, Witch hazel, Zelkova, Palo verde, Araucaria, Orchard, new types of Oak, and new types of Spruce. Birds nests will also spawn in the different new biomes. The type of nest depending on the biome.
Farmer's delight adds rich soil which the new crops, namely garlic and rhubarb, will be able to be grown on. Straw from Farmer's delight will also be able to be used to craft a basket, in a crafting table with the same pattern as the basket crafted with string.
Fabric Seasons will interact with the new crops as it does with all others. The exact percentages will be decided later.
Beautify adds hanging pots which the different berries, namely strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, and currant, will be able to be placed in.
New mobs: Ravens, owls, finches, pidgeons, seagulls, ostriches, kiwi birds
New mechanics: Bird nesting
Birds will now be attracted to and protect their nests. If no nest is present they will create a new one. If a nest is destroyed, nearby birds of the correct species will attack the player.
Different birds will spawn in different biomes. Exact biomes to be decided later.
Oh the Biomes We've Gone adds many new biomes in which the new birds will spawn.
Farmer's delight adds new crops which can be fed to certain birds.
